First we worked with a buddy to trace our shadow in the morning.
Our shadows were a little bit bigger than us in the morning. Ella says this is because the sun was low.
In the afternoon our shadows were smaller and they were squished up.
The next week we made shadows with lamps. We had three buddies. One person held the light. Another person held the ipad and took photos. The third person made the shadows.
We noticed that if our hand was close to the lamp the shadow was big. If our hand was far from the lamp the shadow was smaller. This is the opposite of what we expect. We wonder why this is.
We also wonder...
How does the light make the shadow from your hand?
Why does the shadow move when we move the lamp, even though we are not moving our hands?
Why do two lamps make two shadows?
Would three lamps make three shadows?
